Leaping in high from above, Hanna began the match with a direct lightsaber assault. Due to Scout's paucity of Force talent, she had to rely on her wits to help her through the tournament, and her match with Hanna was no different. She stretched the rules of the game using the audience and even Master Xan herself as defensive barriers. Despite Hanna's protests, Master Xan ruled that Scout's actions were technically legal, but required the girl resume a more traditional match. Scout was no match for Hanna Ding in a lightsaber duel and soon found herself held at bay by Ding's blade.

Hanna demanded that Scout surrender, but the young girl refused. Not sure how to proceed, Scout used Hanna's hesitation to grab her lightsaber with her bare hand and get her to the ground where Scout could apply her superior grappling skills. Choking Hanna with the girl's own tunic, Hanna was forced to surrender much to her dismay.
